About the Actium name Actium was a city in Ancient Rome, where the navy of Octavian fought the navies of Antony and Cleopatra. The battle was won by the forces of Octavian, whose victory led him to become the Princeps Augustus, later considered to be the first Roman Emperor. Thus, the Battle of Actium is often used to mark the beginning of the Roman Empire. This great military victory inspires us to support today's warfighters, helping them achieve victory in defense of our freedoms. The Roman warship in our logo signifies victory in battle, the lessons of history, and the hope of new beginnings, while the olive branches signify the quest for peace.
